The Benefits Of Infrared Therapy

Experience The Warmth Of Wellness

Why Infrared Therapy Is Better?

The use of infrared saunas has gained popularity among the wellness enthusiasts for various reasons such as its potential health benefits and its ability to induce a sense of well-being. However, it’s essential to first understand what infrared wavelengths are before delving into the specifics of infrared saunas.

Infrared Wavelength

The sun emits both visible and invisible light, including infrared rays. These wavelengths of light are responsible for the warmth we feel from the sun. Unlike ultraviolet rays, infrared rays do not have harmful effects on our bodies. Scientists have discovered that infrared waves can be beneficial to our health because they increase thermal energy in our bodies. The infrared spectrum is divided into three categories: near infrared, mid infrared, and far infrared.

  1. Near infrared has the shortest wavelength and can penetrate the deepest into our bodies to increase core thermal energy. It is associated with phot biomodulation which directly produces energy within our cells through ATP stimulation.

  2. Mid infrared wavelengths are also absorbed by water molecules and can temporarily increase circulation through vasodilation, promoting an increase in blood flow, heart rate, and metabolism.

  3. Far infrared is the closest to the infrared heat that our bodies naturally emit. Our bodies release far infrared wavelengths at about 9.4 microns, making it a natural and normal sensation. By being absorbed by the water molecules in our bodies, far infrared energy temporarily enhances and strengthens our energy levels.

What Is An Infrared Sauna?

Although we refer to our treatment as “saunas,” they are actually infrared therapy cabins. These cabins are designed to deliver infrared heat, and the sauna environment is the ideal setting for this therapy as you are surrounded by the infrared heat without any clothing on. The black panels inside our sauna cabins are True Wave® far infrared heaters, while our Sanctuary models also feature True Wave full spectrum heaters with near, mid, and far infrared capabilities.

Instead of using traditional steam or hot rock heating elements, our infrared sauna cabins utilize the infrared spectrum to promote relaxation and other wellness benefits. The air temperature inside the sauna is less important than the quality of the infrared heat, which is why you only need to warm up your Jacuzzi infrared sauna for about 15 minutes before use.

As your body absorbs the infrared heat, it increases your thermal energy, inducing a deep and relaxing sweat. Lower temperatures inside the cabin allow you to stay in longer and experience even greater benefits.

Infrared Sauna vs Traditional Sauna

Infrared saunas differ from traditional saunas as they generate heat in the body rather than heating the air. This leads to a deeper sweat at a lower ambient temperature, typically between 115°F – 135°F for infrared saunas versus up to 195°F for traditional saunas.

Our infrared saunas provide all the relaxation benefits of traditional saunas along with the added health benefits of infrared technology, all at a more comfortable temperature. They are also more efficient and consume less electricity than traditional saunas, with a quicker warm-up time.
